I’m a big music enthusiast, from live shows to exploring new material, as well as film, photography and art (both theory & practical). I find great interest in people, their experiences, their lives and their pasts. I love star-gazing & reading about astrophysics/astronomy, biology, philosophy, psychology, religion, politics, war, history & social relations.

Hobbies:

I’m a self taught drummer since I was 15, and I also dabble in creative video editing, poetry/writing, cooking and DIY.

Why you studied at AFDA:
After applying for the HC course at the AFDA campus, I decided to rather pursue a BA Degree instead in light of having previous experience in the industry. Originally I wanted to enter the industry as an editor, but instead I chose to expand into the Directing/Writing sector to learn and improve on the role of creative direction.

Interests:

Cinema and Filmmaking is my biggest passion. I've been obsessed with movies since I was roughly 8 years old. I'm constantly watching films and learning and writing about them. In addition to that, I have a great interest in the human experience and being out in the world, witnessing life as it's lived. I believe this is essential if one aims to make films.

I have a long love affair with music ranging from many genres. I'm an avid lover of most artistic or creative ventures whether it be literature, visual art, music, cinema, theatre etc. I'm a big lover of all things nature and enjoy being outside and witnessing the beauty of the natural world, the complexity and beauty of the human condition as well as the natural world is something I strive to reflect or capture in narrative form through filmmaking. My aspirations are to become a Director/Screenwriter. 

Hobbies:

I'm an avid photographer and one of my favourite activities is going out and capturing life candidly and spontaneously. I'm specifically enthusiastic about film photography and do most of my work on 35mm. In addition to writing my own scripts and making my own DIY films, I also have great interest in film criticism and write a review for each film I watch as well as compile lists ranging from various categories, which I've been doing for 2 years. I've been playing guitar for 9 years and regularly play with other friends, sometimes writing my own pieces.

Along with compiling my own photography, I have a habit of compiling collections of frames from some of my favourite films and arranging them in an aesthetically pleasing display. I'm lucky that a lot of the things I consider my hobbies are also the things I aim to make a career out of. 

Why you studied at AFDA:

As previously stated, my main love in life is cinema, there's nothing in the world I would rather be than a filmmaker. During Matric, I was made aware that there was a film school in Cape Town so my desire was immediately to apply to a school where I would be educated in the things I'm truly passionate about. AFDA offered me the opportunity to spend my time doing what I love most in the world and earning a degree for it.
